Planning For Cliffhanger 08 Hots Up

As the weather forecasters start making predictions for a warmer than average summer, Cliffhanger '08's engine is sliding smoothly into gear. The inaugural running of the event, the UK's largest (outdoors) for outdoor folk, was hit by one of the wettest July weekends in living memory. Despite the pouring rain nearly 10,000 people turned out, and the exit feedback forms said that over 97% of people would come again! That's some accolade.

What's new this year? Aside from moving to Millhouses Park (better transport, better visibility and better resources), we've got mountain boarding and mountain biking, an angling competition and coaching, a better beer festival, kayaking, skateboarding and a better market. We'll also have the British Bouldering Championships (in a bigger, better and more colourful marquee!), the UltraSprint, a Guinness World Dyno competition, come-and-try-it climbing walls, live music, a fairground, tent displays and a massive retail zone, kite flying, Parkour, caving, demonstrations and heaps more.

Keep your eye on the website for details as they are updated. If you want to be kept informed just subscribe to the newsletter on any page of the site and we'll let you know what's going on once every few weeks.

Here are a few quotes form visitors last year:

From the exit forms - What did you like about Cliffhanger? Feel of the event, liked everything, family atmosphere, feel and mix of events, free stuff, fun stuff for kids, good location, good spectator points, high spirits, cinema tent, all the climbing, hot chocolate, lots to see and do, not previously our thing – now inspired!

I missed sat due to work (bugger) sounds like it was ace. Went today though with the family and we had a top time. The wife and kids loved it even though it was raining, the bouldering comp was brilliant (I wish I could climb as good as those kids) and we got some great bargains in the tents.

If you didn’t make it last year check out the video of the weekend.
