Cliffhanger ‘Teams of 4' Charity Angling Match

Cliffhanger ‘Teams of 4' Charity Angling Match

A feature of this year's Sheffield Council Cliffhanger Show, scheduled for Millhouses Park on the weekend of July 12th-13th, will be a 20-peg angling competition on the Sunday organised by Angling Star magazine in conjunction with ‘Education through angling' run by Pete Gribbon and Andy Rogers.

This will be an invitation charity match to be fished at the nearby Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet dam (where Pete and Andy run their angling coaching scheme), in aid of the Sheffield Museums Trust. Taking the limited available fishing space into account, and ensuring that the locals who have promoted the dam as a fishery were included, it was decided to invite five teams of 4 anglers as follows:

Woodseats ‘A', Woodseats ‘B', Sheffield Juniors (drawn from the Lord Mayor's Cup junior match on June 14), Hamlet AC, and Angling Star.

The match will be £15 all-in to enter for adults and £5 for each junior, with £100 of this to be donated to the Trust, and this goes back into junior angling education.

Spectators from visitors to the Cliffhanger are welcome to watch the event, from the roadside bank only, fished from 10am to 3pm. Tuition will also be given to youngsters attending the show by level 2 NFA coaches Pete and Andy after the weigh-in. Now this might be a small water but it has a big catch reputation. With a good bag of fish of around 40lb tipped to win the event should be well worth watching.
