Have you ever fancied pushing yourself to the limit and getting to grips with a world that involves hanging upside down, suspended from a rock face, whilst snapping your colleagues?
Well, now's your chance!
Acclaimed climber, photographer and long-time Sheffield resident Keith Sharples, is set to take a major photographic role at "the UK's largest outdoor outdoor-pursuits festival" Cliffhanger when it descends upon Graves Park on July 14/15 - and to celebrate, he's offering one lucky reader/listener the chance to follow in his intrepid footsteps.
You'll join 7 other adventurous competition winners for a free photo workshop with Keith at 14.00pm on Sunday 15 at the event which is expected to pull 20k plus visitors. Having recently photographed world-class local rock climber Steve McClure on his amazing super-climb, you can rest assured you're in the best (and safest) hands possible.
"I thought it would be great to bring a group of people, some of whom might never have photographed climbers before, together to have some fun and see what we can achieve," said Keith - who will also be presenting a lecture on climbing photography on Saturday 14 and exhibiting a selection of images at Cliffhanger. "Photography is never easy at the best of times - and hanging off ropes way out in space in order to get climbing images is pretty tricky, to say the least."
Cliffhanger also features dozens of stalls selling everything canoes to climbing boots, as well as the first British Bouldering Championships, a Guinness World Record attempt in the shape of the Dyno competition and an Alpine Beer Festival.
Cliffhanger is organised by Sheffield City Council Parks and Countryside Department and Woodseats-based outdoor sports event consultants, Heason Events with backing from Decathlon, Spice Yorkshire, Fat Face, Alpkit.com, University of Derby, planetFear.com, Natives.co.uk, Climb Magazine, The Star, Real Radio, Dirty Stop Outs, The British Mountaineering Council, Sports Pulse, Arnold Laver, The Climbing Works, Yorkshire Forward and ERDF.
