Cheers for organising it. I left feeling pretty chilled out and wishing I had the time to stay.
I had a really nice time. Was kicking my self for leaving my
camera at home but i did pick up some great bargins from various
stalls. Oh yeah, and the sun shined!!
Thanks all involved (hope to see you next year)
Well I had a good time - spent most of the day helping on the Sheffield
Street sport climbing tower. It was great to see so many kids having a
try. We even had one 4 year old make it to the top of the tower..the
first time she had climbed.
The Cotswold/Highline traverse wall was really good as well and it was great to see it covered in kids all day.
I think the event was a success - okay some things were a bit naff but
I think we should all say a big well done to Heason events and
Sheffield Council
I missed sat due to work (bugger) sounds like it was ace. Went today though with the family and we had a top time. The wife and kids loved it even though it was raining, the bouldering comp was brilliant (I wish I could climb as good as those kids) and we got some great bargains in the tents.
The kids bouldering comp was excellent - they all were very good and my hat goes off to them!
Managed to buy my sen a pair of sportiva muira climbing shoes (half price - £30.00) so that was a bargin!
Well done! I thought it was ace. The sunshined all day Saturday and I do beleive I even got a vague bit of tan!
Overall I thought it was great. It was fantastic to have so many people
come and cheer along at the bouldering comp and really get behind the
climbers, a much better atmosphere than your average comp.
Yes the karaoke man should have been shot, was expecting a bit more
from the beer tent, but the coffee man was a star and there was lots
and lots of room to wander around, masses of bargains and good food.
Please do it again next year!
Effort all round - the day was damp today - but the atmosphere was ace in the comp!
I for one thought it was a good and well organised event, and I'd have
paid at least double the £5 entry fee if you could have arrnaged better
weather! :)
From the exit forms - What did you like about Cliffhanger? Feel of the event, liked everything, family atmosphere, feel and mix of events, free stuff, fun stuff for kids, good location, good spectator points, high spirits, cinema tent, all the climbing, hot chocolate, lots to see and do, not previously our thing – now inspired!
Sheffield is a great place for outdoor pursuits, especially rock climbing. As a Yorkshire man I'm all in favour of Cliffhanger in Sheffield. Should be a reet good Do!
As the acknowledged centre of English climbing - Sheffield is the obvious place to hold Cliffhanger. The BMC is fully behind this exciting venture and we wish it the very best of success
We were very happy with the event and would definitely like to be involved again next year. It was a very worthwhile venture for us.
The over riding comment was it was well organised and a good idea.
We were very happy to be part of Cliffhanger and the event was definitely worthwhile for the team, particularly on Saturday. It appeared to be very well run with good security and a very good variety of stalls.
The amount of activity available to members of the public was fantastic, this is exactly the type of engaging platform that Fat Face as a brand likes to market itself on.
I thought it was really great. I was not totally sure what to expect and so I was very please when it turned out to be great. I liked the mix of vendors and things to do. I particularly liked the caving obstacles. I have some interesting bruises!
I have great pleasure in recommending Sheffielders and visitors to our city to try out the fantastic range of events and opportunities available; just so long as no-one suggests asking me to volunteer for a White Knuckle Ride.
We are very excited about Cliffhanger. Sheffield is a city rich in outdoor culture and enthusiasts, home to 4 commercial climbing walls, a host of other world class sporting facilities, and within the Peak District National Park. There has been an overwhelming level of support for the organisation of an event to put Sheffield firmly on the map as an outdoor pursuits centre of excellence. Cliffhanger is one of the biggest and most varied outdoor outdoors events in the country and promises to be a thoroughly fun packed weekend, a showcase for Sheffield’s Great Outdoors. We welcome everyone.

I thought the Event you staged last w/e was excellent! Though we only managed to visit on the Sunday (in the rain) I thought the Bouldering Comp spectacle was great and of interest to non-climbers like Sue. Though the conditions were very miserable, the content of the various stands was very interesting. I hope that Sheffield Council were equally pleased with the Event and it would make a great annual addition to the climbing calendar.
How fantastic that Sheffield will play the host to this exciting competition. It is great for us to celebrate the
fact that a third of Sheffield lies within the Peak District.
The event was staged very well and professionally. Everyone knew were they should be and what was happening. Even though the weather didn’t hold up the event we thought was still a success. We would be very happy to participate next year and will be recommending the event to others for next year.
The event was a big success for the Sheffield Kite Fliers. All your staff acted professionally and a big thanks to the guy on the trade car park gate who kept an eye on our cars which contained lots of expensive kite gear. It was also great to see the council rangers come round to advise us about our cars on the Sunday as the ground started to get muddy.
I'll be in India over that period so won't be able to make it, but here's wishing you every success in a venture which will confirm Sheffield being the capital of British rock climbing - it sounds a great and enjoyable event.
Sheffield boasts a large and dedicated population of outdoor enthusiasts and lies enviably close to the Peak District. It is high time such an event took place and will surely grow to become significant on the national calendar. Rock climbing is something which I have only recently taken up, but can recommend it highly and am very pleased that Cliffhanger will showcase it in an exciting manner to large numbers of people.
Just wanted to say thanks again for the invite! It was defiantly a very memorable moment in my life that I'll remember forever.
The UltraSprint was a useful thing for orienteering. There was much excitement and spectator interest with a lot of good press on NopeSport. We also had quite a few mums, dads and kids having a go on the afternoon.
