Angling - Free

Angling - Free
Due to the phenomenal success in its first year at Cliffhanger, Education Through Angling are back two days fishing for all the public to enjoy. With free taster sessions running on the hour, everyone will come away with a terrific new experience and a goody bag filled with all you could need for another day's fishing.

Our friendly, "1st For Sport" qualified coaches make the sessions informative and fun. All you need to do is sign in at our stand in the main event and attend the next available time slot, it's that simple. Please note, if you go directly to the fishing venue you will NOT be able to take part without having already signed in.

The fishing, itself, will be held in the idyllic surroundings of Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet. The dam is a beautiful silver-fish venue, with a catch reputation that will ensure a brilliant session for all!

To pass the time or complete your fishing experience, we have exciting games and raffles to challenge the most skilled angler with prizes worthy of any tackle bag, including; rods, reels and various other accessories. All money raised by these games and raffles goes to running another free family taster day later in the year, giving even more people the chance to learn something new (details of which will be available on the day).

For youth groups, schools and other organisations interested in what Education Through Angling can offer for them, our stall will be displaying the huge variety of vocational qualifications, trials and courses available. We will also be providing information and many photographs about of environmental conservation work we do and our many happy participants holding their best catch.

So, with free tasters, goody bags, games and even a free fly fishing demonstration in the river and fly tying at our stand, come and see us :-)Following the success of the angling activities at last years event we will be working together with members of the Salmon and Trout Association in providing fun and friendly coarse and fly fishing opportunities.

Participants in the fly activities will be guided by England International fly anglers Kate Royce and Stuart Crofts and other experts from the Salmon and Trout Association.Stuart will also be there to educate people about the importance of the understanding and knowledge of flies not only to fishermen and fish but also as important pollution indicators. Bugs will be on display and also guidance with tying your own flies.

Education Through Angling would like to thank all our sponsors, in these difficult economic times we are very grateful they have been able to continue supporting us.

We especially would like to thank:
